PACE delegation to arrive in Armenia

A PACE delegation comprising 31 members and led by Norwegian Deputy Karin Woldseth will make a visit to Armenia on February 16-19 to carry out an observation mission at the presidential election on February 18, Armenia Today said.

A PACE delegation comprising 31 members and led by Norwegian Deputy Karin Woldseth will make a visit to Armenia on February 16-19 to carry out an observation mission at the presidential election on February 18, Armenia Today said.

The observation mission will be carried out jointly with OSCE ODIHR observers. At the request of the Venice Commission, the PACE delegation will provide legal assistance in the framework of the observation mission.

PACE delegates are planning to meet with presidential candidates and their representatives, the head of the CEC and representatives of civil society and the media prior to election day.

The sixth Armenian presidential election will be held Feb.18 from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for five years.

Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Grant Bagratyan, chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andrias Ghukasyan and Vardan Setrakyan.
