The delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE led by chairman Riccardo Migliori visit Georgia from 20 to 22 August . According to the Parliament of Georgia, the delegation also includes the vice president Tonino Picula and secretary general Spencer Oliver.
Delegation will familiarize with pre-election situation in Georgia, and will monitor the election campaign of political parties.
OSCE delegation will meet with representatives of the political spectrum of Georgia, international and local observer organizations, also wirh members of the election administration, the leadership of the parliament and the diplomatic corps.
During the visit, also expected meeting with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.
At the last meeting in early July in Monaco, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution in support of Georgia. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe calls on Russia to fulfill the agreement of August 2008, and expresses its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The resolution, which co-workers became 36 parliamentarians from nine countries, repeats many of the goals of the Geneva talks, also having special emphasis on the return of internally displaced persons to their homes and to provide easy access of EUMM to the occupied Georgian territories.
