More than half of the 206 convicts were recommended for a pardon from the Commission under the President of Georgia. This list has already been sent to the pardon to President Mikheil Saakashvili, commission chairman Elena Tevdoradze told reporters.
The final decision will be made by the president and those pardoned could leave detention on Virgin Mary holiday - August 28.
Tevdoradze said among nominated for pardon are 14 women and one minor.
"We have received nine applications from minors, but only one of them had a positive response from the detention center," she said.
She said recommendation will be presented concerning another 15 prisoners to half their imprisonment term
