Tbilisi police detained Giorgi Gachechiladze - son of well-known opposition activist in Georgia, former presidential candidate in the 2008 presidential elections Levan Gachechiladze. Giorgi Gachechiladze is charged with hooliganism, using cold steel, Georgian Interior Ministry said.
The case concerns the fight that took place in the Cafe "Gallery" on Oct. 27, during which one of the security guards of the Café, Irakli Tsindeliani was wounded.
The detainee's lawyer Lali Aptsiauri said that the detention was illegal. She said 6 people attacked on Giorgi Gachechiladze and he defended himself.
"It is intrigue of old cadres in the Prosecutor's Office, who once hobnobbed with Bacho Akhalaia [former interior minister] and today settle accounts with former opponents," the lawyer said.
