Georgia will hold talks with Israel in connection with the extradition of Georgian former Defence Minister David Kezerashvili. Georgian Chief Prosecutor Archil Kbilashvili told TV company Maestro that despite Kezerashvili is not in the country, the Prosecutor's Office will apply to the court for choosing a measure of restraint in absentia for him.

Afterwards, it will be possible to declare him wanted by Interpol.

The Prosecutor's Office accused Kezerashvili on several articles of the Criminal Code, including taking a bribe on a large scale and extortion. According to the preliminary information, as a result of Kezerashvili's criminal activity, the state suffered damage worth tens of millions of dollars.

The former defence minister is a Georgian and an Israeli citizen. Israeli laws, like Georgian laws prohibit the extradition of its citizens to another country.
