Former Sports and Youth Minister Lado Vardzelashvili was detained, Georgian media outlets reported on Friday.
According to media reports, Vardzelashvili was detained in connection with the Sports and Youth Ministry's employee Devi Siradze's murder last Friday night.
Siradze's return from Greece was celebrated at Vardzelashvili's apartment. However according to preliminary data, there was an accident whereby Siradze was killed.
According to media outlets, Vardzelashvili was arrested because he had an unregistered gun that killed Siradze.
Also another guest of the former minister who is suspected of reckless homicide was detained.
The matter is under investigation. The police have not yet commented on media reports.
