Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Voetsek Savitsky in Strasbourg today as part of his official visit.
During the meeting the sides have discussed the political processes, ongoing reforms in Georgia and cooperation issues with the CE. Interior Minister familiarized PACE Secretary General with implemented and planned reforms.
The parties also discussed the situation in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, including human rights protection.
During his visit Garibashvili also met with CE Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland, Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Bataini Dragon and Director General of human rights and legal affairs Philippe Boillat.
Such important documents as the convention on the search, seizure and confiscation of proceeds from crime activities, money laundering and terrorism financing, the additional protocol to the criminal law convention on corruption, the second additional protocol of the European convention for mutual assistance in criminal issues were signed following the meeting.
