The Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili has urged Attorney General Archil Kbilashvili to crucially review the decision made on the case of Lado Bedukadze.

Earlier, the court found Bedukadze guilty on charges of inhuman treatment and torture. Despite this, the court released him from criminal responsibility at the request of Attorney General Archil Kbilashvili.

The arguments that have been presented by the Attorney General in favor of Bedukadze's release from criminal liability are not convincing to the Prime Minister, Ivanishvili's statement said.

"In my opinion, this decision will not prevent similar crimes in the future. As the public knows under Attorney General Archil Kbilashvili's solicitation, the court decided to completely exempt Bedukadze from criminal prosecution, what I have learned from journalists. As for Bedukadze's case, I became acquainted with the arguments that served as the basis of the decision, and I want to make it clear that for me personally, these arguments are insufficient and unconvincing. I am sure that no exceptional circumstances can be the basis for a complete exemption from criminal responsibility of a person who is accused of torture, " Ivanishvili's statement said.
