Georgia, Tbilisi, August 19 /Trend N.Kirtzkhalia/

The NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for theCaucasus and Central Asia. Mr. James Appathurai has welcomed the invitation of international observers to the presidential elections in Georgia scheduled for October, he wrote on his Facebook page.

"I am pleased with the decision of the Georgian government to invite a large spectrum of observers to the presidential elections. This is a clear signal which indicates their decision to conduct independent, fair and transparent elections which NATO considers are important for the Georgian population and the country's joining the Alliance. I am confident that the NATO Parliament Assembly will send a professional delegation to the country," Appathurai wrote.

Presidential elections in Georgia will be held on October 27.
