Grand mufti of Georgian Muslims Jemal Paksadze was placed in the Medina clinic located in Georgia's Khelvachauri district with a heart attack.

He was placed in the cardiology department.

According to the head of the Georgian Muslims Union Tariel Nakaidze, the events developing in recent days in connection with a minaret in the village of Chela had an impact on mufti's health.

According to him, Jemal Paksadze will not be able to hold Friday prayer today.

"I visited him in the clinic. Currently the patient's condition is stable. He had a heart attack. I think that the situation, in which the mufti was the last few days, led to this result," Nakaidze said.

Paskadze had the heart attack amid a scandal around the dismantling of a minaret in the village of Chela of Georgia's Adigeni district.
