The Georgian Public Defender's office and the National Library of the Georgian Parliament will begin public debates.
The first debate on "Khudoni hydroelectric power plant: projects of national importance and their impact on human rights" will be held on February 28 at 17:00.
Georgian Deputy Ministers of Energy Ilya Eloshvili and Irakli Hmaladze, head of the legal service of the Georgian Ministry of Environment Maia Bitadze, representatives of the Georgian Public Defender Maia Liparteliani and head of the Green Alternative NGO Manana Kochladze will be the speakers. The debates will be moderated by Georgian ombudsman Ucha Nanuashvili.
Several non-governmental organizations and villagers of Khaishi that will be flooded in case of construction are against the construction of the hydroelectric power plant. The meeting will be organized with the support of the EU project 'Support to the Georgian Public Defender's Office'.
