The Chairman of Georgia's Roads Department Vaja Panchulidze presented a report on the activities of the Roads Department in 2014.
Last year, with the aim of developing the road infrastructure, the Roads Department implemented projects worth 526 million GEL ($1 = 1.99 GEL), and the budget planned for road infrastructure development and maintenance was performed by 97 percent.
The priorities included the projects for building a highway. The work on the highway was conducted on seven different sites, on a total of 131 km of the road.
Rehabilitation works were carried out on the 265-kilometer stretch, including on the access roads running to tourism attractions and cathedrals.
Some 42 bridges underwent major repairs, and 11 new ones were built.
