Azerbaijan reduces electricity exports to Georgia

Georgia’s imports of electricity from Azerbaijan in 2021 amounted to 601.1 million kWh, which is a decrease of 7.3 percent, compared to 648.9 million kWh over 2020, Trend reports via Georgia's Electricity Market Operator (ESCO).

Georgia’s total electricity imports in 2021 totaled 2.006 billion kWh, which is an increase of 19.3 percent, compared to 1.6 billion kWh in 2020. Azerbaijan accounted for 30 percent of total Georgia’s electricity imports.

Thus, Azerbaijan ranked second among top electricity exporters to Georgia, following Russia (1.2 billion kWh). Turkey is third on the list with 161.2 million kWh of exports.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s electricity exports to Azerbaijan in 2021 totaled 24.6 million kWh – an increase of 37.4 percent, compared to 17.9 million kWh of electricity exports in 2020.
