Azerbaijan boosts oil exports to Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 20

Georgia’s imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from Azerbaijan in 2021 amounted to $128.4 million, which is an increase of 89.1 percent, compared to $67.9 million over 2020, Trend reports via national Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of exported production from Azerbaijan to Georgia in 2021 also increased by 5.8 percent, compared 215,836 tons over 2020, and totaled 228,491 tons.

Azerbaijan ranked fourth among main petroleum and petroleum oils exporters to Georgia in 2021. Meanwhile, Turkmenistan ranked first with 304,193 tons of exports worth $191.8 million, followed by Russia with $134.6 million worth of exports (224,705 tons), and Romania with $133.7 million (206,090 tons).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from in 2021 amounted to $822.5 million – an increase of 64.9 percent, compared to $498.6 million in 2020.
