By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:

Georgia’s economic growth in Georgia in 2022 is expected to be higher than 5.5 percent, Trend reports via a weekly economic review from the TBC Capital.

Earlier TBC Capital has revised Georgia’s GDP growth for 2022 from 6 percent to 5.5 percent in December 2021.

Although COVID-19 cases continue to surge in Georgia along with the new Omicron strain, revenues from tourism continue to recover, and a strong rebound is expected in January, compared to previous months, the report said.

According to TBC Capital, Georgia’s economic upturn in 2022 strongly depends on tourism recovery. TBC Capital noted in its December 2021 report that the revenues from international visitors to Georgia in 2022 should recover to 75 percent of the 2019 level.
