Georgia’s coal and coal products imports from Kazakhstan from January through December 2021 amounted to $752,420, which is an increase of 195.5 percent, compared to $254,580 in 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).
The volume of coal and coal products imports from Kazakhstan in 2021 also increased by 32.7 percent – from 2,566 tons over 2020 to 3,407 tons.
Georgia’s coal and coal products imports from Kazakhstan in December 2021 alone increased by 70.6 percent, compared to $19,570 worth of imports over the same month of 2020, and totaled $33,390. However, the same figure decreased by 64.4 percent, compared to November 2021 ($93,950).
Thus, Kazakhstan ranked second among top coal and coal products exporters to Georgia in 2021. Russia ranked first ($7.4 million), while Turkey was third ($653,020).
Meanwhile, Georgia’s total coal and coal products import value in 2021 amounted to $9 million, which is a decrease of 40.3 percent, compared to $15.1 million over 2020.
