BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 31. The Energy Community will provide technical assistance to the Georgian National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (GNERC) in implementing reforms in the electricity and natural gas sectors, Trend reports via GNERC.
The agreement was reached at the meeting between the Director of Energy Community Secretariat Artur Lorkowski and the GNERC representatives.
The GNERC provided detailed information to the Secretariat on the ongoing reforms in the energy sector and underlined the effectiveness of the Energy Community’s assistance.
Georgia became a member of the Energy Community in 2016, under which the country is obliged to implement the EU energy legislation and bring national legislation closer to European standards.
Meanwhile, the Austrian TUV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH accreditation organization highly assessed the GNERC’s management system in an audit report in November 2021. GNERC was also awarded the ISO 9001: 2015 International Quality Management Certificate in December 2020.
