BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. Georgia’s potato exports from January through March 2022 increased by 275 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($624,290), and totaled $2.3 million, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).
The volume of Georgia’s potato exports in the reporting period of 2022 also increased by 266.1 percent - from 3,195 tons to 11,698 tons.
Meanwhile, Russia ranked first among main importers of Georgian potatoes in the first quarter of 2022. The potato exports to this country increased by 374 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($269,650), to $1.2 million.
Azerbaijan is second on the list with $971,000 worth of potato imports from Georgia in the reporting period of 2022. The amount increased by 395 percent, compared to $196,130 from January through March 2021.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s imports in the reporting period of 2022 totaled $2.6 billion – an increase of 35.8 percent, compared to $1.95 billion from January through March 2021, and 30.6 percent, compared to the period of 2020 ($1.99 billion).
