Baku. Azerbaijan. August 5. The situation in the Middle East has sharply deteriorated following the assassination earlier this week of the head of Hamas's political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, and the senior advisor to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Fuad Shukr, in Beirut, Trend reports, citing Interfax.

The foreign ministers of the G7 member countries deem it necessary for all parties involved in the Middle East conflict to exercise restraint and prevent escalation, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated on Sunday.

"We urge the parties involved in the situation to refrain from any initiatives that could create obstacles to dialogue and lead to escalation," said Tajani, whose country currently holds the G7 presidency.

He noted that the G7 ministers are "seriously concerned about recent events that could lead to a broader regional conflict."
