Jordanian and Syrian officials will meet in Damascus next Monday to look into signing 13 cooperation agreements in fields of vocational training, industry, investments, education and renewable energy, Xinhua cited Jordan News Agency Petra.
Officials in Amman said Prime Minister Nader Dahabi will head a Jordanian delegation to the two-day meeting of the joint Jordanian- Syrian committee scheduled to start on Sept. 14.
The two-day meeting seeks to bolster bilateral ties in a variety of fields, explore investment opportunities and remove obstacles to increasing trade flow between the two countries, the report quoted Jordanian Minister of Industry and Trade Amer Al Hadeedi as saying.
Main issues between Jordan and Syria include water, demarcation of borders and Jordanian prisoners in Syrian jails.
Jordan has repeatedly asked Syria to freeze cultivation of crops at the Syrian side of the Yarmouk River, complaining that these activities slowed the water flow of the river to Jordan's Wehdeh dam.
In March this year, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad visited Jordan, where he met with Jordanian King Abdullah II and discussed ways to activate bilateral ties and efforts to achieve peace in the region.
