The remains of a body were found on the rear wheels of an airplane that flew from the Lebanese capital of Beirut to the Saudi capital of Riyadh, Lebanese Transportation Minister Ghazi Aridi said on Saturday, dpa reported.
"So far, we do not know the identity of the body but the investigation is ongoing with all officials at Beirut International Airport," Interior Minister Ziad Baroud said.
Airport officials said that passengers on the flight operated by the Saudi Arabian airline Nas Air reported seeing a man with a backpack running toward the plane shortly before it took off in Beirut.
The passengers alerted the flight crew but the flight continued on to Saudi Arabia. The remains were only discovered once the plane was inspected in Saudi Arabia following its landing.
