Syrian Culture Minister Mohammad Riyad Hussein Ismat in a meeting with Iranian Envoy to Damascus Seyed Ahmad Mousavi underscored the necessity for the further consolidation of relations with Tehran, specially in cultural fields, FNA reported.
"Keeping in mind the high level political relations between Damascus and Tehran, it is necessary that the relations in the other fields, including in cultural fields, too, would grow accordingly," Hussein Ismat said on Monday in Damascus.

In the meeting on the threshold of the 32nd anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution and the ten day Fajr Celebrations that mark the occasion, the two sides exchanged ideas regarding the links between the Iranian and the Syrian civilizations and sought ways for their expansion.
The Iranian envoy after briefing the Syrian minister about the cultural program of Iran during the ten day Fajr celebrations in Syria, invited him to visit Iran, which was welcomed by the Syrian top official.
Iran and Syria have forged an alliance ever since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and the two countries' officials exchange visits on a regular basis.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was last in Tehran at the head of a high-ranking politico-economic delegation in October 2010.
The two countries enjoy strategic relations in a wide variety of areas.
