UN humanitarian chief to hold talks in Syria
United Nations humanitarian chief Valerie Amos is to hold talks with the Syrian ministers of education and health in Damascus on Thursday, a UN official told dpa.
"She will also meet with the head of the Syrian Red Crescent," the UN spokesman in Damascus, Khaled al-Masri, said.
He noted that Amos had toured the devastated Baba Amr district in the province of Homs for one hour on Wednesday.
Amanda Pitt, Amos' spokeswoman, said that the UN chief was not able to go to areas controlled by the opposition in Homs and that the areas she saw in Baba Amr were completely destroyed.
