Baghdad blast kills nine at Sunni mosque
Nine people were killed and 30 injured Friday when a bomb exploded inside a Sunni mosque in Baghdad, police said, dpa reported.
The blast at al-Kabisi mosque was the latest in a wave of violence over the past week, in which more than 100 people were killed since provincial elections were held Saturday.
At least 53 people were killed Tuesday in clashes that followed the army's crackdown on Sunni protesters in the town of Heweja near the oil-producing northern city of Kirkuk.
Demonstrations have been held since late last year against Shiite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. The protesters also have demanded changing laws that they said target them.
