Israeli soldiers kill Palestinian in West Bank
Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian in the town of Qabatya near the northern West Bank city of Jenin Thursday, according to the town's mayor, Ali Zakarneh, dpa reported.
He said soldiers entered the town after midnight to arrest residents, and confrontations erupted near the vegetable market as they left.
The soldiers opened fire at the stone throwers, immediately killing Ahmad Tazaza, 21, who was shot in the chest.
The soldiers left the town after arresting three people, said Zakarneh.
An Israeli army spokeswoman in Tel Aviv said some 50 Palestinians confronted the force, which responded with crowd-dispersal methods. She said the military was investigating the charge that a Palestinian was shot by a live bullet fired by the force.
