Israeli troops used real ammunition and tear gas in an effort to disperse a group of Palestinians trying to perform Friday's prayers in front of the Ofer prison in Ramallah. The Palestinian group wanted to show support to Palestinian prisoners, Worls Bulletin reported.

In clashes between the Palestinian group and Israeli troops, around 200 Palestinians were injured. Two of the Palestinians are in serious condition.

Palestinian medical officials said two protesters were wounded by live gunfire in the demonstration, which was mounted as a show of solidarity with Palestinians being held in the nearby Ofer prison.

Several journalists, including an Anadolu Agency (AA) cameraman, were also injured in clashes.

Watching the clashes in front of the Ofer Prison in the West Bank, AA's cameraman Muaz Hamid was injured on his back due to a blast bomb thrown nearby. Hamid was wearing clothing clearly showing he was a journalist.

During the clashes, four other journalists were injured due to plastic bullets fired by Israeli troops.

Eight Israeli troops also got injured in the clashes

Palestinian medical officials said tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets were fired into the crowd, and 14 people were injured by rubber bullets.

Nearly 5,000 Palestinians are held in Israeli jails.
