(dpa) - Israeli troops killed two armed Hamas militants early Tuesday during a brief military incursion into the central Gaza Strip, local media reported.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said the troops crossed into the central Gaza Strip during the night for a routine operation against the "terrorist infrastructure" in the area and withdrew before dawn several hours later.
During the incursion, two armed gunmen approached the troops, who spotted them, opened fire and confirmed hitting them, she said.
There was no immediate hospital confirmation that the two were dead.
