Two Palestinian militants were killed and an Israeli soldier injured Saturday night during an exchange of fire between Gaza militants and Israeli soldiers in central Gaza Strip, Israeli Radio reported.

An Israeli Army spokesman told the radio that Palestinian gunmen attacked an Israeli army force near the fence of the borders east of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, ruled by Islamic Hamas movement, Xinhua reported.

The spokesman said an Israeli soldier was moderately injured, adding that a tank fired a shell at the militants and killed two of them. The wounded soldier was evacuated to an Israeli hospital in southern Israel.

Meanwhile, Adham Abu Selmia, spokesman of the emergency services in the Hamas-run ministry of health said that the emergency services received a phone call saying that there are two dead near the fence of the borders.

"We are not able to send our rescue teams to the area because it is risky," said Abu Selmia, adding that as soon as his office receives confirmation, the rescue teams will head to the area.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack. However, eyewitnesses in the area said that after the clashes, an Israeli army force backed by tanks drove into the territory of central Gaza Strip and began to search in the place.

Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli army spokesman said that a homemade projectile was fired from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel, adding that no damages or injures were reported.
