( dpa )- Two Australian teenagers on trial in a Darwin court for theft were caught stealing cash from a payphone during a break in proceedings, news reports said Thursday.

Police said the 17-year-olds were caught on closed circuit television breaking open a call box in a corridor at the Northern Territory Supreme Court building earlier this week.

The presiding judge adjourned the hearing after viewing the footage, national broadcaster ABC reported.

He remanded the pair in custody until next week when the fresh stealing offences will be added to their charge sheets.
