(dpa) - Helmut Kohl has been admitted to hospital after a fall at his home, the office of the former German chancellor said on Thursday.
Kohl, 77, recently underwent knee replacement surgery at the University Clinic Heidelberg, close to his home in the southern city of Ludwigshafen.
The former chancellor was taken to hospital as a precaution against complications arising from the fall.
Kohl, who served as chancellor from 1982 to 1998, was otherwise in in good health, his office said.
