US President Bush leaves Berlin for Rome
US President George W Bush left Berlin Wednesday headed for Rome on the next leg of a farewell tour through European capitals, reported dpa.
After spending the night near Berlin as the guest of Chancellor Angela Merkel on his last trip to Germany as president, Bush and Merkel spoke to journalists on international themes, concentrating on Iran.
Earlier, Bush's wife Laura left Berlin independently headed for Paris for a conference on Afghanistan Thursday.
In Rome, Bush was to hold talks with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and with Pope Benedict XVI in the Vatican.
The president's swing through Europe then takes him to Paris, London and, finally, Belfast in Northern Ireland.
