Belarus, Qatar sign memorandum of understanding

A memorandum of understanding on security cooperation was signed between the government of the Republic of Belarus and the State of Qatar in Minsk on August 24, reported Belta.

The document was singed by Belarusian Interior Minister Vladimir Naumov and Minister of State for Internal Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Bin Al Thani who heads a delegation of the Qatari Interior Ministry which is on a visit to Belarus on August 23-27.

Apart from signing the memorandum, the sides discussed a wide range of other issues, including the fight against terrorism, organized crime, human trafficking, illegal drug trade, hooliganism, etc. The guests are to get familiar with the organization of work and training of the Almaz special anti-terrorism forces and the Interior Ministry Troops. The guests will also visit an exposition of the locally-manufactured products for law enforcement agencies.

The Belarusian Interior Ministry said that "the visit will contribute not only to the further strengthening of the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries, it will also boost the interaction between Belarus and Qatar in other areas."
