French Foreign Minister Expects Repetition of Georgian Scenario in Crimea

Ukraine, Kiev, 29 October / corr Trend Z.Novosvitskiy / Bernard Kushner, Foreign Minister of France, which chairing at the European Union, does not exclude repetition of Georgian scenario in the Crimea.

He stated about it in an interview to Russian Kommersant newspaper, which was published in its today's issue, UNIAN reports.

"Мы все знаем, что там раздают российские паспорта. Но это не решение. Россия сохранит под своим контролем Севастополь до 2017 года - пусть ведет переговоры о том, что будет дальше", - сказал он.

"We all know that the Russian passports are issued there. But it is not solution. Russia will keep Sevastopol under its control by 2017, the Russia should hold negotiations on future," he said.

At the same time, the minister expressed the belief that the Black sea should be the sea of peace, but not war. "Did you see the picture in my waiting room? This is the picture of the 19th century: Paris congress after the Crimean war. We do not want renewal of war in the Crimea," Kushner said.

"There are many delicate issues, he said. However, people have so many problems, connected with financial crisis, and war should be prevented by no means."

French Foreign Minister alarms about danger. "The success of war in Georgia might encourage the Crimea to repeat the scenario."

"Such a danger exists. I do not want to say that this is my feeling after meetings with Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister, President Dmitry Medvedev, Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister. Not at all. But the danger exists," Kushner said.
