Italian police Sunday arrested a mafia boss who was on the country's list of 100 most dangerous wanted criminals, dpa reported.

Elio Amato is suspected of being involved in drug-trafficking as a leader of the Amato-Pagano family gang, a breakaway faction of Naples' Camorra mafia gang.

One of Amato's nephews, regarded as the clan's hitman, was also arrested.

On Thursday police arrested Cesare Pagano, another leading figure in the Amato-Pagano gang.

Sunday's arrests came just a day after police in Naples confiscated land around Lake Avernus, which they said had belonged to a associate of the Camorra clan.
