At least 5,000 people have been injured since unrest in Egypt began on January 25, the country's health minister told broadcaster al-Arabiya Friday, DPA reports.
About 85 people were still in hospital and being treated for their injuries, said Minister Ahmed Farid.
In the violence that erupted between supporters of President Hosny Mubarak and anti-government protesters on Wednesday and carried into Thursday, some 900 people were injured and eight died, Farid confirmed.
According to the United Nations, around 300 people have been killed in the unrest, mostly last week, during heavy clashes with police.
