Norwegian attacks are related, say police

The bomb blast in central Oslo and a shooting at a political youth camp outside the capital are connected, Norwegian police said Friday, according to state broadcaster NRK.

The blast in Oslo killed seven people, Norwegian police said Friday, dpa reported.

In addition, two people were also badly injured in the blast that hit government offices and media buildings, police said at a news conference.

At least five people were injured Friday at a shooting at a youth camp organized by the Norwegian Labour Party - shortly after a massive bomb blast hit central Oslo.

Public broadcaster NRK said the situation was chaotic at the camp held at the Utoya island, located in a fjord west of the capital Oslo.

The gunman was apparently in uniform, possibly masquerading as a police officer, NRK said.
