The black box of the ill-fated McDonnell Douglas 83 plane that crashed in Lagos has been flown to the United States for investigation, Nigerian officials said Wednesday, DPA reported.

The box was recovered on Tuesday from the crash site, as rescuers continued search for more bodies. At least 200 people are thought to have died in Sunday's crash, including dozens on the ground.

Nigeria's civil aviation authority has suspended the license of the Indian-owned operator of the passenger plane, Dana Air, which began operating in Nigeria in 2008.

A 10-man presidential and administrative committee has been set up by President Goodluck Jonathan to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the crash, which killed all 153 people on board when the plane crashed into a two-storey building in a residential neighbourhood in Lagos.

The number of people killed on the ground is still uncertain.

Paramedics said only 58 bodies of the close to 200 recovered from the crash site were recognizable. DNA tests are being conducted on the bodies before they are handed over to families for burial.
