The FBI believes a raid it conducted last week on a home in Minnesota thwarted a possible terrorist attack that could have been deadly, the agency said Monday., DPA reported

The raid in the town of Montevideo about 200 kilometres west of Minneapolis resulted in the arrest of Buford Rogers, 24, the FBI said in a news release, adding that several guns and explosives were found in his home. Rogers was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to documents filed in federal court in Minnesota, the FBI said.

"The FBI believes that a terror attack was disrupted by law enforcement personnel and that the lives of several local residents were potentially saved," FBI said. Details of the alleged plot were not provided. "The terror plot was discovered and subsequently thwarted through the timely analysis of intelligence" and coordination between the various law enforcement agencies.
