At least 12 people were killed and around 22 injured in bomb attacks against two mosques during Friday prayers in Pakistan's troubled north-western region, media reports and officials said.

The attacks occurred north-east of Peshawar, the capital of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, dpa reported.

Amjad Ali Khan, a local official, confirmed the bombings but did not provide a death toll.

State-run Pakistan Television said 12 people had died and 22 others were injured in the attacks.

Private Geo News TV said two different mosques were targeted.

It was not immediately clear if the blasts took place inside or outside the mosques.
