German Lufthansa airline pilots announced plans to hold a strike on Sept. 16. They do not agree with the management's decision to change the retirement age, Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) said, Interfax agency reported.
The pilots want to maintain the existing scheme. According to it, they are allowed to retire at the age of 55. Afterwards, they receive 60 percent payment of their salary until they reach their legal retirement age.
The rally will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time on Sept.16.
"As Lufthansa management has not put forward the proposals for a compromise solution, we have to take additional measures," the statement says. "We regret the inconvenience caused to the company's customers."
This will be the fourth rally of Lufthansa pilots over the past three weeks. Around 110 flights across Europe were canceled due to the strike on Wednesday. "
