Ukraine's President welcomed by Finnish high officials

(ForUm) - Victor Yushchenko has been ceremonially welcomed by Finnish President Tarja Halonen in Helsinki, president's press office reported. They exchanged state awards: Yushchenko was awarded with the White Rose Order and Ms. Halonen the Yaroslav the Wise Order, reports Trend. Following the official ceremony, the two leaders met face-to-face and spoke about European and home issues, especially how to boost economic cooperation between Ukraine and Finland. They also discussed constitutional reforms in the two countries.

High officials will then preside over talks conducted by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk and Finland's Minister of European Affairs Paula Lehtomäki. After the talks, the Presidents are expected to hold a press conference.

Yushchenko invited his colleague to Ukraine.

First Lady Kateryna Yushchenko, Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk, Deputy Secretariat Chief of Staff Oleksandr Chalyy, National Bank Chairman Volodymyr Stelmakh, and Deputy Head of the European Integration Committee Serhiy Shevchuk attended the ceremony.
