Ukraine and EBRD discuss joint cooperation projects

(ForUm) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has offered Ukraine to shift to three-year cooperation strategy. This was what a meeting between Ukrainian First Vice Prime Minister, Finance Minister Mykola Azarov and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Director in Ukraine Kamen Zahariev dealt with, Cabinet press office reported.

The parties discussed the final draft of a new cooperation program, which on December 15 will be proposed to the EBRD Board of Directors, the EBRD's enhancement of activities in Ukraine, in particular, opening office in Dnipropetrovsk, and settling the EBRD status in Ukraine, reports Trend.

According to Zahariev, the three-year strategy will give an opportunity to revise the credit portfolio for Ukraine in favor of longer projects.

Kamen Zahariev told his interlocutor about positive realization of the EBRD biggest credit projects. These are the 120 M. USD project for the construction of a railroad tunnel to Chop and purchase of a rolling stock and locomotives for speed traffic, as well as the 200 M. USD project for financing the reconstruction of the Kyiv-Chop highway. According to the EBRD Director in Ukraine, the bank's priorities are energy, transport and public amenity projects. The EBRD positively took a proposal of the Prime Minister of Ukraine to hold an annual gathering of the bank in Ukraine.
