Russia, Uzbekistan discuss possibility of boosting supply of petroleum products

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. Head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjaev, discussed the possibility of increasing the supply of petroleum products to Uzbekistan during a meeting on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Trend reports.

"At the beginning of 2023, the presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan set the task of expanding cooperation in the field of energy. In this regard, the parties discussed the possibility of increasing the supply of Rosneft's oil products to Uzbekistan," the statement said.

In addition, during the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the growth in trade between the two countries.

By the end of 2022, Russia became the largest trading partner of Uzbekistan with a 18.6-percent in the country’s trade turnover. The growth of mutual trade amounted to 26 percent and exceeded $8.7 billion. Russia remains one of the main suppliers of energy resources to Uzbekistan with a share of about 32 percent in its imports.
