Four terrorists killed, one surrenders

( Todayszaman ) The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has accelerated operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and continues to make progress against the terrorist group.

Following a clash between a group of terrorists and the armed forces in the Beytussebap district of S?rnak on Friday, four terrorists were killed and one surrendered. According to the General Staff, the security teams had been conducting a land survey in the mountainous region of Beytussebap when they come up on a group of terrorists. The terrorists refused to surrender and opened fire instead. The escaped terrorist then surrendered to the armed forces in Silopi .

During the land surveys, the armed forces discovered five separate terrorist hideouts, housing one RPG-7 rocket launcher, ammunition, four hand grenades, five Kalashnikov infantry clips, 500 grams of A-4 explosives, 140 machinegun bullets, several food items and other provisions. Meanwhile, the security forces have also found 94 machinegun bullets and several provisions in two separate terrorist hideouts in Mardin's Nusaybin district. In addition, in the Derik district, three kilograms of ammonium nitrate and some provisions have also been discovered.

According to the General Staff's latest security report, 18 terrorists were killed between Sept. 20 and Sept. 27, two were captured alive and five surrendered. The figures show that to date in September, a total of 32 terrorists have been killed, 11 captured alive and nine surrendered.
