Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan promised to resign if the allegations made in the documents published by WikiLeaks this week are confirmed, CNN Turk reported.

About 8,000 files and over 250,000 documents released by Wikileaks this week account for the correspondence of U.S. diplomats in Turkey.

According to the correspondence, Erdogan has opened accounts in eight banks in Switzerland.

"I do not have a penny in Swiss banks," he said. "If the accusations and slander are confirmed, I will immediately leave my post and leave my authority."
