Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said Turkish nationals in Egypt were not evacuated under a mandatory state decision, Anadolu News Agency reported.
Turkish MFA said in a press release issued late Friday that Turkish citizens in Egypt were not evacuated under a mandatory state decision, but on their own requests.
It said Turkish authorities did not take any decisions to evacuate its citizens after the breakup of turmoil in Egypt.
"Following requests of our citizens, who have contacted the Turkish Embassy in Cairo and Alexandria, Turkish Airlines made additional runs to evacuate our citizens," said the MFA.
The Ministry said it did not make any call to its citizens in Egypt to return to Turkey, or its citizen planning to travel to Egypt not to do so.
