Turkish President Abdullah Gul has approved the new 61st government today, Turkish media reported.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced theh list of the new cabinet members.

Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), headed by Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, as expected, gained a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections on June 12. It got 50 percent of votes.

Erdogan's party got 330 seats in the new Parliament. This allows it to form a single-party government. However, it cannot adopt the new draft constitution in the Majlis and hold a referendum on it. This was repeatedly stressed by representatives of the ruling party.

According to the Turkish constitution, the government must be formed within 45 days from the date when the president will give appropriate instructions to the party leader.
