The police of Turkey's western province of Izmir announced on Tuesday it detained three people suspected of deliberately setting a forest fire, Xinhua reported.
The Izmir police department said it detained three people, one of whom it said is a member of a terrorist organization, for starting a blaze in the Foca district of the province.
The police was quoted by the semi-official Anatolia news agency as saying the three suspects travelled to Izmir from the southeastern province of Hakkari, according to the police.
The forest fire broke out on Aug. 14, leaving no serious damage.
Turkey's Aegean and Mediterranean provinces are prone to outbreaks of forest fires during summer due to the arid and hot weather.
However, the police did not mention which terrorist organization the detained was suspected of belonging to.
