Police and supporters of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) clashed in southeastern Turkish province of Diyarbakır on Sunday after police blocked the entrance to a cemetery where locals planned to hold a funeral for two PKK terrorists killed in earlier clashes Today`s Zaman reported.

Deputies from the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Husamettin Zenderlioglu and Altan Tan were also among the group attended the funeral ceremony. Police told them that the security forces won't allow the group to hold rally outside the cemetery after they receive the bodies of the terrorists.

After the funeral prayer, protesters started marching outside the cemetery despite police's warnings in both Turkish and Kurdish. Police blocked the entrance of the cemetery and asked protesters to bury the bodies after carrying them through a different route inside the cemetery.

In protest, several mourners began throwing stones and police responded with tear gas and water cannons.

Those who managed to enter the cemetery also encountered smoke grenades.

At least two people were wounded in the clashes.
