The state of emergency (SE) in Turkey will be canceled on July 17, Turkish media reported July 12.

The country will adopt a new law on combating terrorism after the abolition of the state of emergency.

It is expected that, the Turkish Parliament will discuss the draft law on combating terrorism.

Earlier, it was reported that, the state of emergency in Turkey will probably be cancelled on July 19 this year.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his intention to consider the issue of abolition of the state of emergency in case of victory in the early presidential election.

"The state of emergency is a measure aimed at eliminating the terrorist threat. We will first consider the issue of lifting the state of emergency after the election on June 24, in case of extension of our powers", Erdogan said.

A group of rebels attempted a military coup on the night of July 16, 2016 in Turkey. The main fighting took place in Ankara and Istanbul. More than 250 Turkish citizens were killed, more than 2,000 people were injured, the rebellion was suppressed.

The state of emergency in Turkey was extended for the sixth time in January this year.
